In the innovative biotechnology industry, adapting and streamlining workflows is critical to maintaining an edge. A leading player in this sector, seeking to increase operational efficiency, embarked on a journey to improve its internal workflows by automating approval processes.
Using Salesforce, Craftware delivered and implemented a custom solution designed to automate internal approval processes. This innovative tool has brought flexibility to the company’s scale and unprecedented automation, transforming the way of navigating the acceptance complexities. The goal was clear: eliminating manual bottlenecks and running a more agile, responsive operation that could scale with an ambitious growth strategy.
Our client is a leader in the biotechnology industry. The company specialises in researching and developing life-saving vaccines, biological drugs, and novel cell and gene therapies. An outstanding team of nearly 8,000 associates across 40 countries continuously supplies tools and research services.
The main scope of the project was to replace an approval management tool. Also, we aimed to make approval process management easier to operate.
The needs addressed during the project:
- creating workflows (based on approval processes)
- creating intranet pages
- creating quizzes
- creating and managing reports, dashboards, and database structures
The newly implemented Approval Management Application is entirely based on Salesforce standards. To build it, Craftware used the latest SFDC solution – Elastic Services. The frontend part was built with Lightning Web Components. Moreover, we used additional libraries for date and time management and exporting reports to Excel files.
The application consists of three main elements:
- Graphic designer – available for users building new workflows
- Administrative part – allows the user to define an unlimited number of data dictionaries
- Frontend part – built using SFDC digital experience with a fully responsive user interface for stationary and mobile devices for two types of users:
- Requester – by logging into the system can create new requests and view previously submitted ones

- Approver – can approve and reject requests assigned to him
The custom solution that supports everyday work streamlines acceptance processes and thus enables better, faster and safer work.

The application is a global tool that supports daily work in the entire company – it is used by all departments (15) and, eventually, will be used by more than 15,000 employees. Most of the company’s processes are carried out using it.
Among other things, the tool allows for so many actions, such as creating workflows, intranet pages, quizzes, surveys, reports, and dashboards, and it remains intuitive and easy to use.
The application enables generating a simple document as well as creation advanced rules that control the data flow. The number of forms that can be created (without adding new objects) is unlimited.
